vocabulary lesson

Each day, it seems that a new word enters our vocabulary as a result of need. Paul was attending a meeting this week and learned his new word-of-the-day.

Paul:
I was in a group meeting where my boss was reviewing annual objectives for the group. He used an expression several times that I had not learned during the course of many, many French lessons. In this meeting, I thought I was hearing "tarte de mere". So I leaned over and whispered (in French) to the girl next to me. "Qu'est-ce que c'est tarte de mere?" She answered back in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear and said, "tarte de merde" means bullshit. Everyone in the room turned and looked at us and had a good laugh. Throughout the rest of the meeting and the rest of the day, there were repeated references to "bullshit".
