Dinner and a Geography lesson too

There is a restaurant around the corner near our apartment that is always crowded when we walk by, so we decided to see what all the fuss was about. The menu looked good from the posting on the window outside - with "creole" dishes and lots of seafood. We didn't look beyond the menu and went inside. We were seated in a room that resembled an American Tiki Bar with bamboo, coconuts and the whole decor that goes with it - kind of interesting for a French restaurant. So we ordered, got our food and it was magnifique! There was such a strange combination of spices... some curry along with a pico-de-gallo sauce. I don't think I've ever had that strange combination of those flavors mixed together, but it was so good. The drinks on the menu looked like they were from 'Margaritaville' with paper umbrellas and swizzle sticks. For dessert, we had the most delicious coconut ice-cream with a ton of rum poured on top. Sooooo good! It too had paper umbrellas and some kind of sparkly thing in it.

So now for the geography lesson.....
The restaurant served Reunionaise food. Stupid Americans that we are, we had to look up where Reunion Island was located and what it had to do with French food. Someone said (SAT analogy time..... ) that Reunion Island is to France as the Hawaiian Islands are to America.

So check out the some beautiful picures and the facts for yourself.
