Ahhh.... latte
One thing about the coffee here, it is *really* strong... so strong that when it is served, it comes in a really tiny cup (demi-tasse) and you should just sip it, not gulp it. Now I like my coffee strong, like good ol' Louisiana coffee, but this stuff can hold a spoon upright! Paul said that he missed *drinking* coffee - the act of taking a big gulp into your mouth and swallowing it. As we were walking down the street in Geneva, I spotted a familiar green color - that of Starbucks. We had some time to kill so we went in and ordered my favorite - a tall Latte'. I had read that Europeans were appalled that Americans would stand in line to order coffee and be pleased to receive that coffee in a paper cup. So here we were, standing in line.... but to my surprise, after ordering, the next question (in English) was "Is that for here or to go?" My instinct was to say.... "Hey, Am I in McDonalds???" But I guess if we were going to stay to drink it, they wanted to give me a proper china cup. And we said "for here" and my latte came to me in a real cup!
